Are We Witnessing The Death of The Call of Duty Franchise?

The Call of Duty XP Event kicked off today and gamers everywhere have been buzzing about it. For the first time, the multiplayer aspect of Modern Warfare 3 will be revealed. The latest installment to one of the biggest franchises of all time will be released this November. So without further adieu, here's the Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 Multipayer Reveal Trailer.

Now most gamers around who follow this gaming industry seem to dislike the Call of Duty franchise and the direction they're headed. But this is Call of Duty we're talking about. It wouldn't be juggernaut title it is if it didn't have a high amount of players who genuinely love the Call of Duty franchise, but the scary part is, they've been relatively silent. With the multiplayer trailer now revealed, this is a chance for the real Call of Duty fans to stand up and tell the world why Call of Duty is the king of first-person shooters! Sadly though, that's not the case. Granted the trailer did look a bit lackluster to be honest, and if you have watched that video on youtube, you probably noticed the insane amount of "dislikes" on the video. What's even more shocking, is the extremely low amount of "likes" on the reveal trailer for arguably the biggest title released this fall. Not only that, but the overall feedback on the trailer has been negative in majority. Some of the hardcore Call of Duty players seem to be pretty underwhelmed. Though to be fair, these are only the ones i've witnessed. There could very well, and possibly are, a respectable amount of people that loved the way the multiplayer is looking so far. But there's one thing for certain, the multiplayer reveal this time around had no where near the amount of positive feedback its predecessor had. Could this be the end of the Call of Duty franchise, at least for now? I don't know, only time could tell.  Needless to say though, it's still a much anticipated game. People can sit around now and talk about how Battlefield 3 is taking over, but come November 8th, Modern Warfare 3 could obliterate sales records as usual. Which is why I personally don't believe this would happen. But no one truly knows at the moment.

So the question I pose to my fellow gamers around the world is: Do you think that Call of Duty: Mw3 will be the last anticipated Call of Duty game in a while? Leave a comment below to let us know what you think.
